The main component of talc is hydrated magnesium silicate, with the molecular formula of 3MgO4SiO₂H₂O. Talc belongs to monoclinic system, and its crystals are pseudo-hexagonal or rhombic.

Talc micropowder is made by grinding talc ore through multiple processes such as selection, cleaning, air drying, crushing, grinding, grading, etc. It is a white powder with a greasy feeling, and has excellent physical and chemical properties such as lubricity, fire resistance, acid resistance, insulation, high melting point, chemical inactivity and strong adsorption.
